Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Prepare 4 Sale ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, store, use, and disclose personal information when you use the prepare4sale.com.au website ("the Platform"). We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Who we are

Prepare 4 Sale operates a directory connecting Australian home sellers with local service providers. Our ABN is 15 677 761 787. You can contact us at any time using the contact form; we don't publish a phone number or email address.

Information we collect

We collect personal information in three ways:

  • Information you submit through forms. When you submit our contact form, provider enquiry form, or any other form on the Platform, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, phone number, business details (where applicable), suburb, and message content.
  • Technical information collected automatically. When you use the Platform we automatically collect technical data including your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages visited, and time of visit. This information is used for analytics, security, and improving the Platform.
  • Cookies. We use cookies and similar technologies for analytics, performance measurement, and to remember preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Directory listings and publicly available information

The Platform includes a directory of service providers across Australia. Listings fall into two categories:

  • Claimed listings. A claimed listing is one that has been verified and taken over by the provider (or an authorised representative). Claimed listings are maintained directly by the provider through our portal, and the provider is responsible for the accuracy of the information they publish.
  • Unclaimed listings. Unclaimed listings are compiled from information that is freely and publicly available on the internet — for example, business websites, public business registers, social media profiles, and publicly listed contact details. We do not assert that the provider has given express permission for inclusion in the directory; instead, we rely on the public availability of the underlying information and provide a clear pathway for providers to claim, correct, or remove their listing at any time.

If you are a provider and you would like to claim your listing, request changes, or have your listing removed, please contact us or use the claim flow on your listing page. We will action verified requests promptly, typically within a few business days.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to your enquiries and process your form submissions.
  • Connect you with service providers when you ask us to (e.g. listing applications).
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Platform.
  • Send service communications (e.g. responding to a contact form, listing-related emails).
  • Monitor and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse of the Platform.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share personal information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers who help us run the Platform (hosting, email delivery, analytics, CRM). These providers are contractually required to handle your data only for the purposes we direct.
  • Listed providers when you intentionally contact them through the Platform — your contact details are shared so they can respond.
  • Legal authorities where we are required by law to disclose information.

Data storage and security

Your personal information is stored on secure servers operated by reputable cloud providers, primarily within Australia or in jurisdictions that provide equivalent privacy protection. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, but no electronic storage method is completely secure.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, including any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Form submission data is generally retained for 7 years to support our business operations and tax obligations.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct any inaccurate or out-of-date personal information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal exceptions).
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
  • Make a complaint about how we have handled your personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We respond to all requests within 30 days.

Cookies and analytics

The Platform uses cookies and analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Analytics data is aggregated and used to measure site performance — it doesn't personally identify you. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some Platform features may not work properly without them.

Third-party links

The Platform contains links to third-party websites (including listed service providers' websites). This Privacy Policy doesn't cover those sites — please review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

Children's privacy

The Platform is not intended for use by individuals under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Complaints and contact

If you have a privacy complaint, please contact us via the contact form with the subject line "Privacy Enquiry". We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
